Need help choosing first aeg

I'm about to get my first aeg and have some questions. I was going to buy a G&P but they seem to have alot of problems with internals from what I've read so I'm thinking about the G&G raider instead. Is this a reliable gun and how does it hold up over time. Is it accurate enough to hit coke can sized targets at around 25 yards. This gun is about €250 but other G&G models are about €100 more. Is the difference just down to metal bodies on the dearer guns or are the internals also better on the €350+ guns. Also should I get the 8.4 or 9.6v battery and where is the best place to get this from. Thanks

G&G Raider is super value. They have the same G&G internals as their more expensive models - the saving is on the body and the lack of trades. The Raider's body is nylon fibre rather than metal and they have G&G trademarks rather than the real steel versions. They're solid and reliable, and for skirmishing the lighter weight of the body is a plus so far as I'm concerned.

A 9.6v battery will give you a higher rate of fire and should increase the speed of the trigger response. The flipside is that all this faster activity may reduce the lifespan of the internals as gears are spinning faster and thus suffering more wear. It's your call - if you're just shooting drinks cans in the back garden go with an 8.4v, the advantages of a 9.6v are of no benefit to you.

As for where to get it... I'd say visit your nearest retailer. Where are you based? Check out the Retailers forums, and have a bit of a Google for yourself. The advantage of getting it locally is that if something does go wrong (and no matter how good an AEG you get something may go wrong) you have somewhere handy to walk into and get help with it.

The internals in the G&G Raider are exactly the same as in the metal-bodied versions. In perfect conditions, yes you will hit a coke can at 25 yards without issue.

An 8.4v battery will work better with the Raider, due to them being downgraded for Irish limits. When pulling a lighter spring, the motor can over spin with a 9.6v causing the motor to burn out faster.

two other users here seeing a Raider, and i will say Raider too, I got mine a few months back and although it had a slight trigger problem I brought it back to hobby and they fixed it in a week. And now it has no problem what so ever. Amazing quality, the Nylon body is better IMO, it's lighter to carry around and i find it holds the mags better :)

for the best bang for you buck... the raider...
but who in gods name told you G&P internals are not great?
the problem with G&P is there so good that people use lipos and stuff in them
the stock piston is designed to fail so instead of having to replace a gear or half your gearbox you put 20 euro of a good piston back in.
If you heard about the gear shafts braking that is again due to like 30rps set ups in otherwords rediculuse setups
my G&P is currently being fixed as the piston broke.
The guy thats fixing it absolutly loves G&P internals

Stock G&P gearbox are great if they are ran on a 9.6 or 7.4 lipo MAX
anything else throws of the ratios in the gearbox even faster (like any high speed gun) and causes things to fail.
I bet where you read that G&P had ok internals was some US website?

G&P gearboxes are crap, I've seen more gears than pistons fail in them. The shell isn't aligned properly in a lot of cases. I'd sooner by a Dboys gearbox and G&P M120 - same result, more reliability.

I know lads who have had G&P guns and only use 8.4s or 9.6's and two of them had gears with broken axles.

Thanks very much for the info lads. For now I'm going to get the G&G GR15 long. I would also like to get a TBB and guarder hop rubber. Is this http://tntquality.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=475&zenid=b56ab07481be84712363a7c1498bb980 the correct hop rubber for that gun and can anybody link me to the best tight bore barrel for it. Thanks again

as far as i know all g&g guns already come with a 6.02 tightbore so there would be no need to go out and buy 1.

The stock G&G is fantastic. Raiders come with a 6.08mm barrel, a Madbull Black Python would make a huge improvement on accuracy and constistency aswell as adding a bit of extra range.

yes that will fit, I have an ulimate in my Raider, I've tried the Guarder clear and found the Ulitmate hop ups a bit better in my set up but a lot of people swear by the Guarder clear, it is a good hop, but yes it will fit. TBH get the new barrel first and then the hop up, the G&G greens are usable until you cna get a new one, unless of course you can get both in one go :)
