I take it you weren't buying your own clothes during the 80s!!

    Sorry.

    google: surrealist trompe l'oeil images

    Its the 1940's revival!

But calling the clothes in Debenhams 'designers' really made me laugh!! There are designer as much as the toy in McDonalds is designed by Walt Disney!

Lol, not entirely true, I used to work there and I can tell you that a lot of them definitiely are-John Rocha for one. I met the man myself, and saw a lot of his designs for upcoming lines and he definitely designs for them, but obviously they are marketed towards the regular shopper rather than the fashionista!

Irony is du jour in 'fashion' right now.

That's part of the H! by Henry Holland collection, definitely aimed at a younger market. I could see my 16 cousin in it for sure, it's kitsch and cute and age appropriate.

They are designers though - John Rocha, Henry Holland, Ben De Lisi, Matthew Williamson, Julien Macdonald etc.

I definitely don't think my 16 or 18 year old would be seen in something like it though, revival or not!

Some might though, who knows? I'm intrigued to see the actual top now.

I think she means the one seen at 32 seconds here

I think it's cute! The collar actually isn't part of it, it's a blouse underneath.

    I think it's cute.

I like the look of the John Rocha faux fur coat in the clip above. How cosy would that be?

    It's a zebra though isn't it, not a giraffe?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭Resi12

Right, well first off that's a zebra and not a giraffe.. :o
Secondly, it doesn't come with a collar. It's just a jumper. The collar is from a shirt underneath I would imagine.

I think it's cute, I've seen worse like.. Don't really get this thread OP to be honest but different strokes I suppose.

To be honest I just tonight it was horrible and not what I would consider fashionable, fashion forward or what I would I would expect from a designer line - not everyone would agree with me, but just my opinion

    The catwalk disagrees

Well I'm sixteen and think it looks class (mainly because mustard is my favourite colour), I like a lot of HH's designs although have never bought anything from his line as they're all quite expensive for someone who just hunts for UO, Topshop etc dupes in Penneys for a third of the price.

And in fairness Debenhams does have good 'designer' clothing for the more older age group compared to it's competitors, Pamela scout used to be good but jesus everything in there these days looks like the clothes were made out of crepe paper .
