Well lads, ive recently started college and i want to commute so ive got a budget of around €1,000 for a car. Is there any car i could get where the road tax is around €100 - €150 per year?

    Sound. :)

On older cars(pre 08) as above, a 1.0 is the cheapest.

For your budget, I'd say an old Micra is your best bet.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

@OP - when I was in college, people commuted by foot / bike / bus / train, but fair play to ya that you still have access to celtic tiger funds or even better that you have a job on the side :)

As the Nissan doctor said, you really can't beat an old Micra for being very low in the total cost of ownership. They are cheap to buy, very reliable, requiring very little servicing and they are frugal

Encouraging others to act illegally is against the charter. Do so again and you're gone. I edited your original post.

Maybe a Suzuki Swift might suit also, recent mention about them in this forum too about how realiable there are. I will mirror what was also mentioned about them not being very safe in a crash, they crush like a can of coke. As would more cars in this sub 1 litre/sub 100 euro bracket though, should be bought cheap if you can find a good one, dont see a lot on the road not like i used to, not the older shape anyway.
