Do TCD professors read this forum?

What do you think? Perhaps they're curious to find out what students think of their course, or what students expect to come up on the exam so they may then alter the paper accordingly.

We all know SU candidates flood the place with newly registered accounts at election time every year. In case any are reading now, I hate you all. Any other "agenda" groups that may keep an eye on this forum? There are far more lurkers here than posters.

Well, now that we are all professors of one sort or another, the answer is yes.

I remember a few years back something happened like someone gave out about the Junior Dean here on boards and it got back to her through some of her cronies or something, and the person involved was disciplined in relation to the incident...don't know specifics.

With regards to lecturers, I do know someone with a boards username suspiciously similar to one of my lecturers viewed my profile at some point, but other than that, don't know of any specific people posting or lurking on boards. It would probably do one good to assume that they are lurking however, were one to consider posting something that might be considered defamatory :p

I know for a fact the lab demonstrators for the sciences (who are just PhD students) post here, if they can be considered "teachers". Is ApeXaviour still hanging around?

Deadline is April, and I doubt people are speculating that early.

I've also done some teaching, of the 3rd year evening CS course, and running tutorials & labs for 1st year CSers. Unfortunately, no impact on the exam papers ;)

As snappieT has pointed out, the deadline for submission of examination papers to the Exams Office is many weeks before the start of exams. And Sophister exam papers that contribute to the degree result have to be vetted by the External Examiner. Thus the exam papers are usually set in stone long before they get discussed on boards.

It strikes me as unlikely that speculation on boards would affect the contents of an exam anyway. Unless you had a strangely malicious lecturer...

Ahem. Also, I believe the word you're looking for, here, is "minions".

Yes, one of my lecturers answered a question about our course in a class because he said he saw loads of people confused about it on Boards..

I'd say a good few do read it, yeah.

Brian Lucey posts under the name blucey. He's the only obvious one I know of.

Given that this is a public forum on a public network, why would you assume otherwise?

Definitely, I once heard two of mine discussing a thread I had posted on that day.

I find this site v useful for getting some sense (if only to ignore it....) of what the body of students are concerned about re college....
Its also useful to now and again hop in and rebut some of the more lunatic theories (like exam papers example above). Carry on...
