    How do these things work?
Why do you need a case?

    1. Induction.
    2. They're not magic chargers.

Wonder would these work on the HP touchpad and Palm Pre 3 as they both have induction capabilities?

Magic, but won't a direct wired charge get you there quicker ?

The ikea is that u just drop the phone on the mat, your not search for cables to use. Its no slower the using a cable, it's just for convenience

More-or-less, but it means that you have a single mat placed somewhere for all your devices rather than five or six chargers. Still new tech, give it a few years and they'll standardise it and most new devices will come induction-compatible and you won't need an adapter or a case.

Just did the sums - it starts getting expensive when you have to buy a sleeve for every device you want to put on the mat ?

What about searching for cables to charge your charger?

Even the pre touchstone wont charge a touchpad, the touchstone is more complicated than you'd think there is a two way communication between the devices at 3.1MHz and 6MHz and also the charging frequency is unlikely to be the same 118.5kHz.

Thats what I was doing last night for my duracell instant charger
