Europa League on ESPN blocked?

    I'm not able to watch the Tottenham game on ESPN right now, getting a message instead saying "This program is not available". Is this a rights problem?

    get used to it mate,its like that the last few seasons with the europa league. they show the same games as setanta ireland so must be something to do with them!

    Yeah..I'm watching it now on Setanta..

    On ESPN is says all about he game,but also adds "Not available in ROI".

    Have you got Eircom broadband? You can get Setanta there if you don't have it on satellite. It's available as part of the Eircom subscription.

    I think ITV 4 also showed the game,they have Europa League rights.

    Watch ESPN via SkyGo if you have a fast enough broadband connection. I have the laptop hooked up to the tv using a hdmi lead and the quality is as good as any SD channel.

    You could try manually tuning in ESPN (12285, V, 27500, 2/3). Every now and again Ch4 block certain programmes and movies so I manually tuned it in and now watch them through Other Channels.

    That wont work as there is only one residential version of ESPN.

    That's it exactly. TV3 and Setanta hold exclusive rights for the Europa League in Ireland.

    Sorry for bumping an old thread, but this is still happening and I find it infuriating.

    Liverpool and Hearts is on tonight and only ESPN and Setanta Sports 1 are showing it. Now, I have Setanta so I'll be able to watch it, but Setanta is PPV and they STILL haven't made Setanta HD available to Sky customers (18 months after its launch on UPC). So I'm stuck watching it in horrible HD and having to listen to a commentator who wrecks my head.

    Here's the kicker. All the ITV's are available on UPC and as far as I know ITV4 are showing the Newcastle game tonight. Thing is, it will be blocked out for this game despite NO Irish stations showing this game live.

    This really bothers me. Setanta are a joke, but for the time being they're a necessary evil. :(

    You can't really win with this...the Europa League is blocked on ESPN on satellite and not on cable, while its fine on ITV4 on satellite but blocked on cable.

    Still no excuse for dragging up an old thread, though.
