Don't know if there's a place to rent the engine lifts on their own in Dublin but there is a place in Tallaght where you can use one while renting a bay for €20 an hour, it might suit you provided you can drive there http://thepitlane.ie/

think about safety is the most important thing.

No point of saving a few quid if you're gonna hurt yourself or worst drop the engine halfway damaging your car and the engine at the same time..

West Dublin, ☀️ 7.83kWp ⚡5.66 kWp South West, ⚡2.18 kWp North East

well , i goin put timber bar over enegine bay , put ropes around engine and that bar, then unbolt engine bushes, than engine let down with ropes to ground, lift car up (i have big 3 tonn car jack) , and pull engine out(from underneath car).
Not sure how to put engine back... but I have few ideas.

Sad is that, i am goin work on that car alone. :(

Have you tried the likes of ace hire? I know lads who got engine cranes off them before...

You'd be welcome to borrow mine, but you'd have to come to Louth to collect it :o

I would suggest you have someone around when you are doing any heavy lifting even if that person cannot help you they would still be able to call for help if you get injured or something goes wrong.

Goole the car, all engines have lifting points. Check your local hire companies they may have something that will work.

Ask some of the hire places eg navan hire, drogheda hire etc I'm certain that I've seen them for hire there at some stage :)

A micra engine shouldn't be too heavy but don't damage your back by lifting it or have someone help you lift it :)

The bays without the ramps cost less and use of engine lifter free

just jack up the car high enough to get the engine out and put axle stands under it and then get a thick piece of timber that will go under the engine and gearbox and let them down on the jack, i've done a couple of engines that way and nnever any problem

i had such idea also, but never done like that, will have to try.

I may be crazy, but is there a large tree nearby? A strong branch would easly hold an engine. Make a simple pully with some rope?

Failing that, maybe get some scaffolding and use that to make a simple crane over the bonnet?

i have no reliable trees around :)

well, this is bit complicated. i had idea make 3 leg stand from timber 2 m tall , and get a winch in top , rise engine up, then pull car out, then put another car underneath , an laid engine in new body. ... just i have no such big timber bars and no winch.

so i have only one option.... rise cars front, and use jack for moving engine around.

You can Hire them for 45 a day from http://www.hss.com/g/67715/500kg-Engine-Crane-Folding.html .

Please dont **** around with trees and scaffold poles, if your not going to do the job right dont bother, engines aint the lightest or easiest things to manouver, especially if your doing it alone.

Would make it cheaper if you disconnected everything before you hire the crane, that way its just a in and out job.

thanks for link. donor car with good engine will be at the end next week, current engine is partly stripped, took off head(determine problem) and all ancillaries, gearbox will be off after couple days... i think ill manage get it off from car by pulling from underneath. ... recon wont be difficult.
before take off engine from donor car, will disconnect everything ... and leave engine just on some bushes.

erm ,, 45 bit expensive... will think about that.

I am planing sell engine head with camshafts, oil sump, and some other bits for cheap money, just to cover some expenses.
Never heard that nissan micra engine head would go warped.

A micra head would only warp if it had been suffering severe cooling issues.
