Sooo.... this wandered past my data-stream. Interesting read!

    http://cryptome.org/0005/fbi-anon-psycho.pdf

Its a psych-eval/workup on the people the Feds think are running Anonymous...

Not really surprising they did that, seems like step #1, but interesting to read it none-the-less.

I have my concerns about why or how this was released into the wild (it seems almost deliberately written to mock and scorn the Anonymous "leadership").

I have no idea why I felt this was the right forum for it but couldnt think of anywhere it fitted *better* :)

    DeV.

Also it goes from 3 to 5, seems like the FBI or whoever put this together can't count too well.

the only affect anonymous has ever had on me is that because of them i couldn't play call of duty for a few months.

I feel like I'm a member of the Criminal Minds team reading that!

Dunno, why didn't they just call it a profile of Lulzsec? The only thing related to anonymous is a Wikipedia extract.

That has fake written all over it.

Anonymous is just internet losers. Such as this guy:

hmmm if that REALLY is an FBI document, that's not very inspiring.

They do seem to have left out a lot of relevant stuff and to writing up a document based on a group that use the internet as their medium, using an internet based encyclopedia (wikipedia) just seems kinda .....foolish?

    Also things like

*reliance on technology will be their downfall*
    *Born of wikileaks*
    etc

just make it sound like its some half arsed report, thrown together by someone who thinks that "hactivisit" would be a cool nickname

Hardcore republicans posting on dissident forums like www.irishrepublican.net would have their accounts tracked and pm's read.

Seems a little dubious. Would an FBI profiler really make a simple grammatical mistake like

"he see's the world through a nihilistic perspective"?

    Also:
"The following bulletized points are the key findings". What the hell kind of sentence is that? No-one who routinely writes professional reports would say that.

Even the first page is littered with grammar errors. It's fake, and it's a bad fake too.

Either it's fake or the American intelligence services are stupid and incompetent...

    Actually this could be real

Would the FBI really quote Wikipedia?

Good read, Its seems very factual even if if wasn't official

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,941 ✭✭✭thebigbiffo

defo fake. 'if' instead of 'of' amongst other errors pointed out above. methinks if you were an FBI profiler the person you were handing this up to wouldn't be long making some assumptions about your professionalism and analytical skills that would lead to a loss of your job pretty quickly.

I'm betting fake too, but the weird thing is that I'd be absolutely certain that the genuine article exists somewhere :)

Whether real or not it wouldn't surprise me if the FBI did have files like this. Really weird watching mainstream reactions to 4chan these days, as a kid I in a sense grew up with 4chan and that general net culture. Who they are and what they are, are quite clear to me but the mainstream seems insistent on profiling them similar to criminal groups as if they can't grasp the concept that 4chan is a culture, not an organisation. Its a very strange feeling watching news and criminal reports and knowing more/better than them.

Anon isn't even real, its an external guise used by 4chan. Its a more marketable entity than the reality could ever be.

The US authorities keep track of everyone. I was once a civil rights activist... and in a sense I still am. I get the odd christmas card from the US embassy... :)
    Explained here...

I'm sure politically active writers like Maman Poulet all have their own file. In a sense I'd be somewhat disappointed if they didnt...

I would agree with others that this is probably a fake, but make for interesting reading nonetheless.

Why would they they have "UNSUB" (unknown subject) beside the names of people who they've identified/apprehended?
