Hello, quick question was thinking of going for the GAMSATS to do Veterinary Medicine next year when I decided to have a closer look at the entry requirements:

The five-year graduate entry programme (DN300) is open to applicants who:
    I. Hold an honours degree (NQAI Level 8) in other disciplines at the level of a 2.2 Honours or above, by June 2011.

I bal1sed up my degree and walked away with a pass  but then redeemed myself by getting a 1st in an MSc and also just finished a PhD. My question is, does this mean I am not eligible for entry into the graduate entry or by "or above" do they also take into account MSc and PhD - neither of which are in biological sciences?

    Kindly thanking you

Hi, I don't know the answer myself, but I'd imagine the only way to get a definitive answer is to contact someone in the science programme office. Then you at least know you have definite confirmation from a UCD member of staff.

Contact details can be found here: http://www.ucd.ie/science/contact.html

    Good luck :)

Right idea, but contact the school of veterinary medicine, not science: http://www.ucd.ie/vetmed/contacts/

AFAIK, a Masters and/or a PhD counts towards the eligibility.

Pretty sure you need one of your many degrees to be a biological science one to get into the 4 year grad programme, but as other posters said, check it out. You can email John Buckley, the programme director (vetprogrammes@ucd.ie).
Either way, 4 or 5 year, go for it!

Yes, to get into the 4 year program a biological background is needed, but not for the 5 year course.
