AWD cars likely to fetch loads more money in winter?

I'm trying to sell a 2 litre petrol Forester but have been disappointed with the offers I'm getting (less-than-fantastic fuel economy is obviously a significant turn-off for most people these days).

I've heard on the grapevine that selling prices for 4x4/AWD drive vehicles skyrocketed following the cold snaps for the last few winters. I don't suppose that hard figures available, but can anyone share personal experience of this? Trying to decide whether to cut my losses and take the best offer now, or sit tight for a few months and pray for snow :)

From watching the ads last winter, it seemed to me that the value of €2k ish Subarus doubled with the first snowfall.

It won't do much to the value of a €10,000 car but a car that would struggle to fetch €1200 now could easily be commanding over €1500 in the early winter if it looks like last year will happen again.

Thanks. Maybe not "skyrocketed" then, but sounds like it might be worth waiting a few months.

Dealers were reporting increased sales of new 4x4s last year alright. Absolute madness that someone would go out and buy a car based upon a few weeks of weather. God forbid they bought a car that they actually want/need.

Second hand values should increase accordingly also, maybe moreso as people would probably justify spending a couple of grand on a second hand 4x4 for winter use.
