e90 upgrades

    Hi all.

Hoping to soon have an e90 as a replacement for my sold e46.

There are a few little upgrades im thinking about

Bluetooth is essential, i used to have a mk6100 in my e46, but this time id like to get a proper thing with steering wheel control.

Can anybody recommend a good handsfree car kit unit with steering wheel controls? and also who would be recommended to install it, and whether its better to buy the unit then get it installed, or do the whole thing in one go.

Has anybody done any xenons upgrade?is it just a matter of changing the headlights or is it a bigger job than that?

any other interesting additions people could recommend?

Wouldn't it be easier to buy a car with the spec you want? I know it'll take longer, but at least it'll be done right.

True enough, but for the budget im on, its not that easy to find one. i actually havent seen any, up to 4k more than what i am paying for this one with any better specs to be honest.

Also, ive been searching for 27 days now for a suitable car, and pretty much struggling with taking the train everyday and having to get people to cover me for clinics, when i should be going myself to be honest.

its a sensible answer, but i cant do it, will need a car pretty soon, and have one nearly sorted, just waiting for a pre purchase inspection to be done.

Looking around it seems the Xenon thing is COSTLY as it involves a LOT more than just swapping the headlights around.

Im wondering if the stock headlights are halogen or not, would consider that if it was a swap in and out job.

For bluetooth, well, self explanatory, im guessing its either going to be a BURY cc9060 or parrot mki9200. the Dension kits are very expensive looking around.

    Cheers

It took me a year to find the E46 I was looking for.. and it still missed 1 thing I was looking for when I decided to buy it!

You must have been determined searching for a whole year

I'd buy something cheap to get you by until you find the right car. And you're right, IMO, the E90 needs xenons and bluetooth. And a bit more besides..

i dont think ill hold on to the e90 long enough to have warranted waiting for a whole year to get one!!!

i know im an impatient SOB, but seriously, 27 days not driving is like not eating and drinking for that long.

anybody have good resellers / installers?

    bluetooth options:

bury, parrot, dension gateway five/500?, mObridge, or retrofit bluetooth from bmw dealer...

but a crappy little fiesta or similar to nurse you around for the time being...

theirs no rush when you're actually spending a fair few quid for a nice motor.

fair point again, but i dont really see much point in waiting in enjoying driving the e90, at most im probably going to keep it for 2-3 years - ill probably be leaving at that point, so there is no sense waiting and not making the most of it.

so, any suggestion on bluetooth / halogen headlamps?

They have halogen as standard, and factory bluetooth is common enough.

Not so common on the budget models which the OP seems to be looking at.
