A vacuum gauge works from one pipe connected to a vacuum line.
The other wires are probably just to power lights around the gauge, i usually use wires going to the cigz lighter, as they're easy to get at and identify.

If memory serves. the black wire is battery negative, the red wire is power for the guage to work, should only be powered when ign is on. The orange is for illumination of the dial at night, and can be wired into the light circuit.

I used to join the red and orange together and connect them to an ign on circuit, like the radio. You don't want the guage powered while the engine is off as it will run down the battery, and it doesen't really matter if the guage is illuminated during the day.

    hope this helps.

I think someone asked why fit a boost gauge.
I always fitted them to my stellar mileage turbo diesels, you don't want to be overpressurising elderly diesels, also acts as a sort economy gauge.
