Audition Advice

So I recently joined a ammeter musical society & have managed to psych myself up from only backstage work all the way to auditioning.

I've never done an audition like this & so would just like to know what's expected. We have been given audition pieces for whatever character we're going for so that's fine but when it comes to it, do you just stand there & sing/read lines or do you act your ass off when singing/reading lines...or other?

Also as regards call backs, are they just a second audition with the sane stuff if you're good enough or will you be expected to do more?

I'm a total newbie so any advice is appreciated.
