    http://www.dell.com/ie/p/xps-8300/fs#!

select the 8300 for €620.55 (Has a saving of 417.45 odd euros marked beside it and upgrade the processor to the i7-2600k

it comes standard with the Graphics card 6670 1Gig HD and ther 6 gigs ram

Just pop in the discount code up above to knock another 70 euros odd off at the end.

Worked out for me at €687 inc delivery and vat I had added in the wifi card and the dvd which costs and extra €25 plus vat.

Not sure if it's an amazing deal really. Firstly it's the i7-2600 not the i7-2600k so overclocking is severly limited. Secondly the graphics card isn't great. Also RAM is dead cheap these days considering you can get 8gb for ~40 quid so 6gb isn't really that much anymore. (not that anymore than 6 is needed, just saying it ain't expensive).

I guess maybe it's okay if you value the dell warranty and the Windows licence. But beyond that you could build a cheaper better machine with an i5-2500k for less. Only advantage the i7 has over the i5 is hyperthreading which is only useful for certain things like video editing and not at all advantageous for games.

I picked up on it from the hot uk deals site.
Overall consensus was that it was a pretty good deal across the pond.

On Dabs.ie the i7-2600 , ATI 6670 HD Graphics Card and the Hard disk work out at €420 , so with the memory, motherboard, dvd rom, psu, wndows 7 64 bit and case for another €240 delivered I think its a fair enough deal.

Well it is good for a package deal. Price wise it would be just a bit more than component cost. (try http://www.hardwareversand.de). What Im saying is you would build a machine for the same price or less with an i5-2500k and a much better graphics card and be able to overclock it to 4Ghz+ no problem. The i5 is as good as the i7 the majority of the time unless you are doing some serious video editing.

With this machine though if you want to play the newest games at high settings you will likely need a new graphics card and possibly a new power supply if the stock one isn't up to it. Guess it depends on your needs really. It's pretty good as a general media workhorse and you do generally get good quality construction and support with Dell.

Looks like the deal is over anyway so it dosen't matter anymore.

    Pity there's no laptop bargain.

Is their outlet still open? Couldn't see it on their page.

From what I read on the hot uk deals thread Dell always have coupons up with similar discounts, I actually only came across the Irish version of the coupon by doing a quick search on boards and there was some site that lists current irish dell coupons.

Like the other poster said its not an amazing deal buts its a fair enough price for the specification.

I suppose technically its expired but perhaps keep an eye open for another coupon

Is the upgrade from i5 to i7 worth the €115?

Good question. I've an 8 year old P4 3ghz 3gb machine and would like to find out how much of an improvement I should expect moving to one of the newer machines. Is there somewhere that has a comparison of various processors at different speeds etc?
