Ever wanted to partition a USB Pen drive?

Because USB thumb drives are recognized as "Removable Disks" in Windows,
and not "local hard disks", this is not possible but there is a tool called "BootIt" which can turn a Lexar Jump Drive, into a local disk so that all partitions will be recognized on any PC you plug it into.

It basically changes one "bit" of code in the firmware of Lexar Jump Drives,
so that its no longer recognized as a "Removeable" drive.

However, since other Brands use different firmware, you will not be able to use this tool with other Brands,
and could more than likely make that pen drive unusable afterwards.

A way of achieving this with other brands, is to update the "Removable Drive" driver,
to a "Hitachi Micro Drive" driver which can trick Windows into thinking its a local drive.

The only drawback, is that this would be have to done to all PC's you intend to access those partitions on, and it only supports 32-Bit versions of Windows.

Theres a nice guide on how to do that trick here:

    Think you're confusing memoryc.com and mymemory.co.uk there...?

But yeah, it's not exactly the greatest deal on earth. The same pen drive is cheaper again on Amazon, with free postage if your order is over £25.

I am confusing the sites actually. Still though, always check your 'deals' I suppose.

Easy to confuse the two, happens frequently on bargain alerts.
