There are combined bus/rail/Luas tickets, that is likely to only be available from Irish Rail - best to ask from a main station. I'm not sure about the specific 7-day duration though.

No it can't. Student tickets currently only cover one or two modes, but not all three.

There is a monthly Student Bus/Rail short hop ticket available but that does not cover LUAS.

Could anyone be able to answer my question? It may seem stupid but I have a Student 30 day bus and luas ticket, I validated it in the machine the first time. So when I get on the bus I try to beep it on the machine but it never works so I always end up just putting it in the validator again so as to not look as if I'm not paying... Is this supposed to happen as it's a combi ticket and not a smartcard?? It's very awkward as I don't know what to do... lol :confused:

As it's not a smart card you will need to validate it in the machine each time.

That scanning machine only works for cards fitted with the smart card style chip. As yours has a magnetic strip it much be validated into the machine each time you board.

Ohhh right! Thanks!! :D Now I'll stop trying to beep it on the machine and hold everyone up lol :o

thanks for the reply guys but it seems we dont have a clear answer,

Will the student 7 Day Bus and Luas ticket which cost 25e cover atleast bus and train ?

This is from dublin bus website

Student 7 Day Bus and Luas €25.00
    • Valid for unlimited travel for 7 consecutive days
    • Valid on Dublin Bus scheduled services including Xpresso (excluding Airlink, Nitelink, Tours, Special Events and Private Contract services) and on Luas services
    • Student Travelcard required

    Luas = Tram
    DART/Commuter = Train

A bus and Luas ticket will not cover any train.

The 30 day bus and Luas is for 30 consecutive days from the day you validate/purchase it.

The 30 day bus and rail short hop is for one calendar month.

You cannot use a bus and Luas ticket on Irish Rail services.

I'm not quite sure how else you can interpret the word "no" as per my earlier post (copied below).

This page lists all the student tickets that are available that include Dublin Bus.

There is only one ticket that covers Bus and DART and Commuter Rail journeys and that is the Monthly Short Hop Bus and Rail ticket that costs €96 and is valid for a calendar month. It does NOT cover LUAS tram journeys.

There are no student ticket options currently available that cover all three modes together - i.e. bus, rail and tram.

whats the difference in 30 consecutive days as to one calendar month ?

One calendar month starts on the first of the month and ends on the day before the first day of the next month.

30 consecutive days can start on any day of the month.

    Rail/Bus/Luas is Adult only.

    Hi Victor,

There is a Rail/Bus/Luas Monthly and Annual ticket available for adults but there has been small demand for these tickets over the past few years.

There is no Rail/Bus/Luas Monthly or Annual Ticket for students. The student can purchase a Rail and bus ticket, Rail/Luas ticket or a Bus/Luas ticket.

I hope this clarifies the matter for you.

    Regards,

    Irish Rail
