    hey,
anyone have any advice for what cars fit this bill: diesel, post 2008, relatively high fuel efficiency car (~60mpg)...e.g. golf bluemotion...just want to see what else is out there

Also, does anyone know how much roughly you get when you scrap a car (2000 ford focus) from a scrap yard?

    Cheers

About €150 if it's just the shell, maybe €300 if non running, maybe closed to €1k if it is. If it's running I'd advise selling it private.

If its running and just slipping a clutch, change it and keep driving it. The money youll save doing that rather than buying a new diesel, youd have to keep the diesel and do the mileage for years to justify buying it.

As for scrap value, approx €150 for a tom of metal and €30 for the cat. So around €200 max

I think you should stick with your focus. Failing that, there is 1.2litre diesels all over the place... Focus' aren't that thirsty. I'd consider sticking with your focus until it craps itself, then grab a new car.

Also, skoda octavia 1.6 greenmotion. (someone had to say it)

Hmmm, it's just that it needs to get the windscreen washer fixed.
And the mirror that encloses the full light bulb on my front lights is broken...
So I figure the clutch and this will cost 500 easy.
Then if you had a 08 car the tax would be 400 less per year. I know depreciation will be probably 2k a year though but the comfort level would be worth it....

Might put it up for sale on donedeal for 800 ono and see if anyone bites
