do all the combo boxes auto update ?

    ...or are some hacky/geeky, involving going online and downloading firmwares etc.

    im looking for one for my aunt, one i can just plug in and leave alone with the least amount of channel viewing/surfing glitches for her.

    external hd pvr functionality isn't necessary, if its on a recommended one it would be added some time down the line.

    any recommendations ?

    No combo box auto updates. Only Freesat boxes or Sky boxes auto update on Satellite properly.

    If you want 100% compatibility you need a real "Freesat HD" box and a real Saorview approved box.

    ie. does a saorview approved box auto-update ? (present or future boxes)

    Eventually all existing Official Saorview boxes will Auto-Update even to ability to load new firmware Over the Air (OTA). Currently only a very basic Saorview service. No series link yet.

    thanks again watty, got 2 of the official/approved boxes yesterday. might go the other route for my own switchover but for the aunties etc. this is the way to go imo.
