Just noticed that the guitar amps I've been watching over on Adverts have been recategorised into the "power amp" section of "pro audio". Anyone else think this is a mistake and/or likely to mislead random browsers?

As it stands, amp ads were always split between the amp and guitar and bass categories. Now we gotta check a third category?

For what it's worth, I always reckoned "guitar and bass" should be for the instruments and effects and processors. "Amps" should be for combos, heads, rack pre and power guitar/bass amps, and speaker cabs. "Power amps" for PAs and the like.

    Maybe it's just me...

A lot of combos seem to have found their way into the pro audio section, with only 6 remaining in the actual "amps" section. Definitely a mistake somewhere....

As Rigsby wrote, you'd probably be better off contacting them directly. I don't use Adverts.ie at all so I've no idea whether the re-categorisation is a good or a bad thing.

It looks like someone is currently re-organising things, there is another section for amps inside the guitars section.

The best thing to do is post your layout suggestion on the Adverts support forum.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=646

That way other people will be able to chip in and the Adverts staff will get an idea of what the most popular way of organising things would be. At the end of the day they'll do whatever suits the users most and makes the site easiest to navigate.

I received emails recently stating that my 2 items for sale have been moved to more suited catagories. They were in the correct ones to start off. I would like to see an 'effect pedal' sub catagory too.

But why are all the guitar amps in the amp section with PA power amps.

I contacted them with the query before posting here.

They are recategorising, but appreciate input on what's appropriate.

They said, "In the meantime, if you see anything on the site that should be in a different category, please please report it".

[EDIT: perhaps after (if) this thread gets a few categorisation suggestions/conclusions, it could be moved to the Adverts support forum? Keep everything equipment related in the one place?]

    Hi guys,

Yes we are in the middle of moving a lot of music ads to new sub-categories. I'm more than happy to take on board any suggestions made here :)

Yeah, I have noticed some changes on "Adverts" ( mostly good IMO) recently. I was looking in the Instruments (basses) section this morning. You have two categories, "electric basses" and "jazz basses". The former would be quite sufficient IMO, as it also covers the latter. No need to over categorise :)

A separate sub catagory in the music instruments for 'Effect Pedals' please.
