Query about Hawkeye ?

    Hi

I'm not a tennis player but enjoying watching it on TV.

I've been curious about Hawkeye for a while and just wondered if anyone here can answer my question.

If players and officials trust Hawkeye 100% as seems to be the case, why do they need to use line judges to judge in or out. I know that all courts could not use Hawkeye as this would be prohibitively expensive and obviously the Umpire would still be necessary in all cases but there often seems to be argument of line judge opinions. In the case where Hawkeye is there anyway why not get rid of the line judges who can sometimes make mistakes and just rely on Hawkeye alone.

In a similar way to when a Beep is sounded when a serve hits the net, they could have an immediate beep if a ball goes out and there would be no argument from players.

    Any ideas?

Someone would still have to watch every point via hawkeye, which would take too long, you've seen how long a challenge takes! Plus, it is not 100% accurate, and does not show the actual point, it is a predictive technology, the 6 cameras allow the software to take speed and spin into account and predict where the ball most likely landed. It's just completely impartial on a personal level, so players accept it as they can't row with it.
