I expect this car accident of a thread to be derailed quite quickly, maybe by post #2.

Now I see where you got your nickname. Didn't see a similar thread. I'm sorry if this one is upsetting for any of you in any way. I thought it was pretty harmless and was simply curious.

If no one is hurt, and if the cars can more - there is no need to stop in the middle of the road/motorway to wait on the Gardai to arrive.

    Either:

    A) They won't arrive, or will be ages arriving.
    B) They will arrive and give out to you for blocking the road, and then give out to you for involving them in a civil matter which could have easily been dealt with by both parties.

In the couple of crashes I've been involved with, either I've claimed responsibility where I was wrong or the other driver claimed responsibility where he/she was wrong. The entire matter was done and dusted in 5-10 minutes.

Luckily I haven't had any major dints.

this thread is boring. the OP has to tell an embarrassing and largely amusing story about the time they crashed the volvo into their mothers mailbox with their half naked girlfriend bent over in the passenger seat.

Then, then we will have a thread.

Does it count if you drive it into a pier but manage to do no damage bar but a white mark on the bumper and chip the badge.

Could been alot worse as the pier was swaying and i put it in reverse and jumped with joy that i crashed a car. good times i really would love to see my reaction in a worse accident :pac:

Been in 3 serious ones (write-offs) of which I was driving in one.

It is an extremely unpleasant experience which I would very much like to not experience again.

And the airbag broke my f**king hand :(

Hit by a car when I was a kid. It really ****ing hurt tbh!

But hey, you should have seen the other guy.

What exactly do you mean by an accident? Like does someone have to be seriously hurt or just some damage. I've never had 1 where anyone was hurt badly badly but had a few scrapes alright

Wouldn't class it a an car accident just a bump, some one drove into my rear end at 60 km per hour wrote off their car but only dented my boot. never went through the insurance route and the father of the girl driving the other car fixed my boot, although cant say he fixed his daughters car, her brakes failed and smash.

My dads been in 3 car accidents also was crushed under a car while fixing it, a Citroen bx with the up down suspension thingy and the jack fell, and the car crushed him, almost killed him. Fire Brigade had to lift the car off him and pull him out and they then dropped the car on his head, and split his head open, they had to resuscitate him.

My brother was in one with my dad, in which he sued my dad and got 17k, as he suffered bad facial injuries.

My cousin (my dads side) lost his sight in one eye and got mild brain damage in a car accident he got 250k 17 years ago, the driver had his leg crushed and shattered the other one. A lorry with an uninsured driver came round a bend on the wrong side of the road.

my other brother has had 2 motor cycle accidents one involving a car pulling out on him and the other with an electric fence being put across the road for the cattle to cross with no warning signs and was invisible at 6am in the morning.

my aunty (my dads side) died for carbon monoxide poisoning at age 24, she got drunk went to the car in the garage and listened to music and the garage door was almost fully shut and she had a full tank of petrol, she never woke up.

my grandparents (my dads side) had their car blow up on the motorway in the uk due to faulty wiring and a gas bottle in the rear of the car.

my cousin (moms side) was on night maneuvers in Kuwait 26+ years ago driving a tank and another tank crashed into his and he suffered brain damage to the are that controls muscles and he is/has been paralysed since also because the damage is the the part that controls muscles he cant talk or eat properly, as the muscles around his mouth dont work.

My daughter let off the handbrake of the car (by accident) and it rolled and crashed into the front of our new house (1.5 years old), we had to knock the front and rebuild it as all the brick work was all cracked.

Leave that up to you, but I was mostly thinking one car hits another ie not something where you slam into a mailbox. Was also thinking not "extremely minor" (little to no damage) but doesn't have to be severe either.

My Mam parked outside my Nana's house one night and just ran in to give something to my Nana whilse leaving myself and my brother and sister in the car at the time.

Another car pulled up behind us and started ramming into our car a couple of times. They eventually went off as if nothing happened while we were in the car screaming and beeping the horn, my Mam just thought we were messing and came out to give out to us only to see the car pull off.

I flipped my Clio and Liam Sheedy the former Tipp manager was fist on the scene.
His first question was ' were you driving too fast?'.
The car is up side down and I'm still sitting in it with my hands clued to the wheel and that was his first question.
If only I could of came up with some witty hurling response in reply.

Christ Biggins! If you're faster than all three? Then you should be running for President.

Get knocked down when I was 10. Had the breath knocked out of me and my leg was sore for a few days afterwards. Did I mention I got up again afterwards and finished crossing the road?

The poor car on the other hand wasn't so lucky. It suffered a broken front window and a side mirror got knocked off!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,573 ✭✭✭pragmatic1

Was in one. Thought a friend was going to be killed. Not a nice experience.

If we count fender benders, a number of them, actually - one my fault, the rest not. Some minor damage, more than one my car was totalled. Knock on wood but nothing where anyone was seriously injuried.

I had a fender bender once with a camper van, unfortunately for me the occupants of the camper were not your typical german tourists but rather members of the travelling community. I rang the guards and the scumbag had no tax or insurance and was on green diesel, I had to lie to my own loss and the guards took care of the scummer.
