Is there anything to consider when buying a Jap Import Jimny over an Irish one? I have had a Jimny before but am wondering would the jap import have to run on a higher octane petrol or anything? Or is there anything else to consider such as higher insurance as its a jap etc.

    Thanks

We run Unleaded 95 over here, that's quite a high octane compared to other countries. I'm sure it will run fine.

Petrol: not on a jimny, only high performance stuff like skylines

Insurance: Sometimes, insurance companies can start trying to screw you even more because it's an import and quote silly bull**** such as "it'd be harder to get parts" when in reality you can just order new parts for most stuff, no matter where it's from.

I've come across this with a few vehicles. The most notably laughable one is higher insurance on jap import 90s swb Pajeros, where they say "they're not as common" and the same crap about difficulty in getting parts, when all you have to do is look on donedeal for a few minutes and you'll see that most of the pajeros from the early 90s swb ones on there are jap imports.

Should just add that it's not actually always a huge amount extra, but it's just annoying to be charged extra for a very flimsy reason
