We had an interesting visitor to Cork yesterday. An El Al 767-200ER (Reg: 4X-EAC) operating a Holy Land charter to Tel Aviv. Here is some footage of her departing at about 4:50pm yesterday evening.

    What was security like ?

I know the Berlin - Israel flights are subject to heavy police presence.

Nothing out of the ordinary really. I was there for about an hour before she took off and saw no sign of the airport police. I believe the passengers were subject to extra security screening though.

    Did they use the airbridge?

It would be great if the video zoomed out at some point to show something other than the nose of the aircraft.

No just the normal external steps. She was parked at a remote stand away from the terminal down near the cargo area.

About time something interesting landed in cork. They should just sell those Air Bridges to Mickey o Leary up in T1, waste of time in cork.

Ya sure they are hardly ever used! Total and utter waste of money.

No problem :) As I said all criticism and comment is welcome. I'm not quite BBC Documentary cameraman standard yet. Working on it ;)

There's only the one installed, thats the excuse Al are claiming for not using it, saying it's unfair to other AL flights having to use the steps. What would MOL do with them? Use them as advertising hoardings.

On the subject of El Al, today I was in Berlin and saw one of their 737-800 landing, it was followed to parking by a tank, and a helicopter hovered overhead as it parked! very interesting to say the least.

Wow interesting. Wonder if they have to pay extra to the airport for all that extra security.

Ya, saw something similer in Berlin a couple of years ago, the 737 was taxing out after ours and a small armoured car and a jeep were escorting it. Thought it was because it might have had a VIP on board, but now, maybe not so.

Anyone know who chartered it? or any details of the deal?

I'd have thought El Al would have been way down the line in terms of trip charters.

As far as I know it was Joe Walsh Tours (http://www.joewalshtours.ie/). Don't know anything beyond that.
