will quick format loose all data on pc?

    Hi and sorry for stupid question:oif under system recovery I select quick format option will I loose music and pictures on my pc ,thanks in advance .

    Yes - quick or slow format will format the drive. Formatting will lose all data on drive including os.

    Yes it will,
    Quick format=Wiping Disk without checking for errors
    Long format=Wiping disk while checking for errors (Long format useful if the relyability of the drive is questionable!)

    Thanks for quick replies ,my problem is that I seem to have deleted the vidoe coder on pc in that im unable to play any dvds ,and there is a preinstalled software set up on pc ,so im wondering if i carry out format will it return the abilty to play dvds thanks .

    Try install a PowerDVD/WinDVD trial, even when they expire the decoder should still work. Alternatively use VLC PLayer to play DVDs, free & does the job!

    yep use VLC or install a codec pack like CCCP or K-Lite

    If you're lucky enough you'll be able to get back some/all of the data by using something like Active@ UNDELETE
