Education course or HDip?

Ok so I'm considering going into Science Education, and taking my major in Maths and Biology.
I was just wondering, would it be better to take the science education course in the limited places it is offered, such as Maynooth, or should I study Biology and Maths and take a HDip afterwards?
Is there any differences in the way they're taught or done?

Which is the best route to go?
    Any advice is greatly appreciated!
    :)
