suprised this hasnt been mentioned although it is all ireland week.im glad there was no heel up and him turfed out.he has his flaws like any other manager but we need a bit of stability in meath at the minute and changing managers every year is counter productive.hopefully he can get his trial matches in this year and we can all get on with concerning ourselves with football instead of county board politics.

yeah with tom keague staying on as the other one.i was just reading the meath chronicle reports from the county board meeting today and theres an element in there that are stuck in the past regarding an outside manager.thats the biggest sticking point in meath no forward thinking.banty could do the all ireland and national league double for the next three years and theyd still want him out every september

Strangely enough I always saw Banty's appointment as a rush job to appoint an outside man .... I say rush job .. the process to appoint him was drawn out, but ya know ..;) ..not that I'd be one to tell a Meath man how to do his job, but I always felt that Eamon O'Brien got the sh1t end of the stick - I wonder whether he was the unwitting scapegoat in the whole Leinster Final affair

He wasn't, he lost his job because of his unwillingness to make changes in the middle of a game, the quarter final against Kildare last year being the most obvious example.

I'm not too pushed either way about Banty staying on, unlike some other county's fans I think most Meath supporters realise that the players aren't there at the moment to be challenging teams come August and September and there's not much a manager can do about that.

........ then again he'd delivered the first Leinster since 2001 and AI S/F previous year. I would agree that his tactics were askew in 2010 - Kidare and most obvious v Louth.

I saw Meath 3 times in championship this year - twice live .... eh .. I didn't think they looked "championship" fit ? ... Reilly, Bray & Ward seemed to be wintering well.......

you cant hold up the AI semi final and the leinster win as proof o brien deserved to stay.if anything they were proof he was lucky.that AI semi was the handiest run we ever got through the backdoor waterford westmeath roscommon limerick and mayo in the quarters.we were set up completly wrong against dublin in that years leinster quarter keeping joe sheridan on the bench and caoimhin king at full forward yet the dubs were terrible and a manager with a bit of tactical nous wouldve beaten them.the same happened with kerry in that AI semi they were awful played well within themselves yet he left moyles on their one danger tommy walsh till it was far too late.kevin reilly eventually came on and walsh didnt get a sniff.

in 2010 the we struggled against offaly till theyd a man sent off the laois keeper dropped a ball in the net when they had us on the rack the first day and we only beat dublin because their backs decided to take the day off.we only kicked 9 points that day on a perfect day for football.and then well we dont need to go through the leinster final thing again.as my father said about eamonn o brien hed stand on the line looking like a farmer gazing at his field of cows!the changes always came too late and if the team didnt look fit this year they were even less fit last year!!
