Picture and sound freezing and very annoying trying to watch a programme because by the time it comes back you have missed 10-20 seconds.

Also sometimes it says "no signal received"

Anybody know if its a transmitter problem

If the aerial hasn't moved in the recent winds it could be down to reduced power at your transmitter.

Go to Aertel page 169 and check for any work at your local transmitter or give RTÉNL a buzz, their contact details are on sub-page 1 of Aertel page 169.

    Hi again Cush

Aerial is mounted in the attic and is well tied up so I doubt its moved. I'll go to aertel and see if there is any planned work on my transmitter. I was looking there a few days ago but it didn't say anything about the mast on Conac on air but I'll check again just to be sure.

If its still the same tomorrow I'll probably give them a call to see whats up.

    Thanks.

Maghera is on reduced power at the moment, could you be receiving from there? Maybe do rescan.

Not 100% sure where I'm receiving from Cush. Have the aerial mounted vertically in the attic so just assumed it was picking up Conac an oir.

Just did a rescan there and it still picks the channels up on CH47. Problem is still there only its not as bad as before. I'll give saorview a call tomorrow if it's still the same.

Maybe It's tuned to Conac an oir here so seeing as though your reception is perfect. Been very bad here for last four days but before that it was grand.

    Thanks

Were you able to establish the root cause of the problem? Being in North Kerry you've got a whole bunch of transmitters that you might be able to pick up:
    1. Maghera pol: H ch 48
    2. Mullaghanish pol: H ch 21
    3. Knockmoyle pol: V ch 52
    4. Cnoc an Óir pol:V ch 47
Also depending where you are in Kerry, you may be able to find Woodcock Hill. Works were pencilled in last week for Maghera & Mulla & are due to continue this week. I'm just south of Tralee and use Maghera ch 48 (main) & Mulla ch 21 (back up) both horizontal, so I can't really say how strong the vertical Tx's really are.

I also had difficulties on the Tralee side of Ballybunion

I totally forgot to give an update. I called saorview the following day after I opened this thread and was quickly told that it was transmitter trouble and some parts of Kerry were more affected than others. Since then I have experienced no trouble with the service.

I have no idea what transmitter I'm receiving from so I'll probably get a guy to call this week with a signal tester and find out which mast I'm latching on to.

Seem's like we were in the same boat so Tim. Here's the number for saorview 1890 222 012 in case it happens again. If you know which transmitter you're latched onto then at least they can tell you straight off if there's a problem with it or not.

    All the best.
