Could this be a hardware problem?

My laptop won't load past the stuff it displays when turning on. Before displaying the Windows desktop it always goes blue and displays the error message "Page Error In An Nonpaged Area".

It has offered me at start up the option to scan my laptop for errors, which didn't work. It ultimately just displays that error message again.

Under advisement I have attempted to restore it to the last time it worked as normal, to no success. The error came back.

Frankly desperate, I took some rather extreme advice I was offered and attempted to re-install the operating system. Hoping to return it to factory settings. It seemed to be running smoothly but just as the windows logo formed it displayed the error screen again.

Its a Fujitsu laptop. Is there any way I can fix it? I thought it was a software problem but given these events could it be a hardware one?

Thank you for reading. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

This error is a fairly known one, but can have many causes.. A lot of the time Norton security is to blame, sometimes, Nero.

Can you reboot your PC, and when it is starting up, tap F8 once a second..
You should get a boot menu with options.

    Safe mode
    Safe mode with networking etc..

    Choose, "Last Known Good Configuration"

That should allow you to boot into windows.

If not, do the same thing (Tap F8) when booting, this time boot into Safe mode.
When in safe mode run checkdisk by going to Start menu > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.

In the Command Prompt box type:

    chkdsk /f

You PC will scan the harddrive for any errors, and try to fix them.

Thank you for the recommendations. As it happens, and I should have listed, I've previously tried both.

I tried both again there to refresh my memory of how exactly each attempt failed so I could tell you, if you are still willing to help.

The attempt to restore it to its last good configuration caused it to go blue screen just before Windows opened. HOWEVER trying to start safe mode seemed to make it restart instead.
