Murphy Commission refused to play ball

Interesting story here which shows that Vatican was prepared to cooperate with the commission and advised same commission how to proceed, but same commission ignored this advice and proceeded with its (incomplete) report.

Seems very immature to me. If it's really 'all about the children', then it seems to me that you'd do all your homework instead of attempting to score cheap points. Well, the truth is out now.

I don't buy their excuse. They needed the information but they refused to take the basic steps (which they were told about clearly) in order to secure the necessary information.

Church 'willingness' to co-operate on Cloyne is news to many

If the Vatican had nothing to hide, then it seems to me that they'd give the commission what they asked for in order to establish the failings on both sides, learn from them and prevent them from happening again.

The Vatican is a State, and they were willing to comply. They requested that the Commission go through the proper channels, which was ignored, the ball was in their court!

Also, the Cloyne Report even acknowledges that the Church's child-protection guidelines are better than the State's guidelines? It says "compared with the Church's guidelines, the State's are less precise and more difficult to implement". Hence the outburst by Kenny, to create a diversion from the Governments own failings!

They requested that the Commission go through the proper channels

Why? Why not just give the commission the information? I mean, the Vatican had nothing to hide, right? So why not just give the information to the commission? Even throw in a "Next time, we'd prefer it if you used the proper diplomatic channels, but because we also want to find where mistakes were made and prevent them from happening again, we will comply on this occasion."

Why even possibly delay things? Even if the State then went through proper channels and got the information, why would the Vatican delay it? This was about child abuse. F*ck diplomatic channels

Maybe they had NOTHING to add other than what was already provided by the Dioscese!
