Heading up north tonight from Bangkok and wondering what areas in chiang Mai I should look into staying in for the few days il be there? Budget for accommodation is around €20 for a double room per night.

    Cheers.

We stayed in a place called Julies, pretty much b'cos i saw it on the lonely planet book and then after that gruelling train journey they had a van at train station waiting for backpackers... We decided that was easier than looking around.
Real backpacker place, decent enough, nice lounging area which was nice to chillax!! Dont think it was too expensive.

I stayed at a place called 'Nice Place 2' a few years back. Booked it thru a TA in Bangkok. Was really cheap but pretty decent. Backpacker vibe, near the old town center, pool and bar.

Hi there, i stayed at a place called SK House II. Rooms are basic but pretty cheap (approx €8-10 a night), fairly central and has a pool. We got a fan room but there's air con one's available too.
