Well lads are they any aircon course going on? Are they expensive also? Im thinking of heading to Australia in the new year and I want to have a certificate in this since all the cars have A/C down there.
    Cheers.

I am only aware of one person who is fully certified to give A/C courses, Try Willie at AGE LTD. they are based down in Cork. Le Linky

Much better to do one out there I would have thought, then you'd be up to speed with the Aussie set up, rules and regs, and you might also be able to use the course as an opportunity to make a few contacts in the Aussie motor trade.

Good luck in your new life mate, and fair play to you for getting out of here, I wish I could.

I'd be careful just doing a course it's a bit more complicated than that.

You need to obtain a refrigerant handling licence and know how to reclaim gas without losing any to the environment. It can be a bit of a science not just about throwing gas in.

    Vacuum testing
    Properties of refrigerants / oils
    Compressors
    ETC

Don't mean to burst anybody's bubble just know how it works.

In saying that the boy's down under can be lax when it comes to reg's and just want to get the job done

All the best on your travels and never look back at this s**thole

They are more professional than the Irish, then again so are most developed countries.

Worked down there for Mitsubishi Air Con their technology was 2 years behind what's being used in Europe just because they're closer to Japan doesn't mean that they adapt the technology quicker

This one is is running in DKIT Dundalk

    http://www.learn.ie/www/product.asp?pID=178&cID=4

It's a mixture of OBD diagnostics with Aircon system. Optional F-Gas certification (mandatory for anyone working with Aircon systems in the EU) is available.

Best of luck with your relocation plug....you have put alot of time/effort on here answering different motor problems...;)

Not so sure of aircon courses down your end of the country but maybe check out your local colleges if theres anything available.

Keep in touch even tho you'll be down under.:)

And why would that mean the Irish are more technologically advanced than Japan or Australia ?

Thanks for the help and well wishes lads.I should be qualified early in the new year. I wont have a job when Im qualified but I have a few bob on the side for the big move so no worrys there. I got a quote off fed ex for delivery of my toolbox down to Australia, they wanted €2900+, feck that so Im just going to get the small hand held toolbox and bring over the basics.

The idea of doing a course down there makes better sense actually between contacts and the general set up. I've used the aircon machine in work plenty of times and am experienced in recovering, vacuum testing and recharging with new gas and oil. Im on the web every now again getting a bit more info on both aircon and auto boxes since FAS dont cover them:rolleyes:
    Thanks again!

Who said they were:rolleyes:. He said in aircon technology that the aussies are not up to the same level as Europe. Is that hard for you take?

Seeing as Australia would have a warmer climate than any country in Europe, imports all the same car brands, and has its own car industry as well, yes, it's hard for me to believe your bull.

VRV ( Varible Refrigerant Volume ) technology was released into Europe 2 years before OZ

Inverter Driven units were only starting to arrive in OZ while I was there and I'd been working on them for 3 years here before I went there.

Australia may be hotter but Ireland is at the forefront when it comes to Data Centre technology why do you think Microsoft Amazon and others all base their equipment here
