DCU is situated on the Ballymun road so everything is relatively close to that area. Hazelwood is a nice complex and most ppl i've talk to have had no problems. Security is on site all night to keep any trouble makers out. With regard to bikes getting stolen, this can happen everywhere. Dont worry yourself too much! Only thing I will say is to be cautious after dark and dont wander around the area on your own.

I don't know anything about Hazelwood accomodation but I just want to say this..........bikes will be stolen ANYWHERE in Dublin. Absolutely nothing to do with being near Ballymun. Leaving your bike parked anywhere locked up is leaving it at risk of being stolen, that's just how it is. I would only leave my bike inside my house or locked up out the back, definitely not locked at the front. And if I leave it locked up anywhere else it is never for long and it is locked properly with 2 locks. I feel safe leaving it locked up at college but I choose where to lock it carefully, lock it as best I can and keep a check on it, certainly would never leave it overnight.

TBH I'd be more worried about the fact that someone actually told you it was a 30 minute walk from DCU.

I'm living in hazelwood this year too. . I walked from dcu up the ballymun road to the apartments and it took me 20 minutes, and that wasn't at all at a strenuous pace. The man said there are shortcuts but i didn’t try them out yet so I dont know what the difference would be. Also, there’s a bus stop right outside the apartments and he said that goes to the college on a regular basis, thinks its the 17a, but I could be wrong :)

The rooms are nice, you have you own bathroom which is good if someone is smelly, in you room is a cable for broadband(personal not good for me as I like the freedom of wifi but fortunate I have a spare wifi modern which I am bringing up hope it works) and one for free cable tv, you get a study desk and a wandrode and dresser, single bed. I could be wrong on something.

haha if someone is smelly :L Sounds spot on, rooms are nice. .pretty compact, same with the bathrooms.. . but they'll do the job :) Complex itself looks good too :) Roll on the good times huh? :L
