Changing Username

    Hello Boardies
    I bought a laptop recently and I have a minor issue, how do i change the name of the user to my name.

    Is my only option to restore factory settings. which i really don't want to do

    Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change your account name

    You must have administrator privileges to do this.

    You should be able to do it in the User Accounts part of the Control Panel. However this may not change the folder name. You could copy anything you want to save, log in as Administrator, delete the old account and create a new one.

    Go to start all programs-accessories-command promt-right click and select run as administrator.enter this net user administrator /active:yes,restart pc log on to the admin acc you should be able to change the name of any account,remove passwords ect.to turn off the admin acc as above except net user administrator /active:no and restart
