How to get S2E working

I totally wiped my HTC Desire and stuck on CM7 7.1.0 and have an 8GB SD card. I formatted it through recovery (Amon-RA) so I have a 1GB ext2 partition, 64mb swap and 7GB fat32.

    Titanium Backup tells me this:
    System ROM: 262MB (121MB free)
    Internal: 158MB(14.1MB Free)
SD Card: 7.06GB (5.37 GB free)
    SD Card(a2sd): 958 MB (872MB free)

So the numbers arent important, but Titanium is picking up some sort of external storage. The problem is, the phone keeps giving me a notification saying I'm running out of space (which is true, see Internal above). I thought S2E was meant to stop this!

Am I using it wrong? Do I need to reflash CM7 on top of this existing install?

    PS, in S2E itself:
Up the top right it says:
    DATA: 13MB EXT:783MB

    then on the main part,
Applications: Checked, but greyed out (82MB)
    Private apps: Not checked (4KB)

Application Data: Not checked, greyed out (42mb)

    Dalvik Cache: Not checked (82MB)
    Download Cache: Not checked (4kb)

Any tips on how to use S2E properly?

I have the original Desire too and I have similar values to you, except my EXT is showing as 610 MB remaining).

I had this problem when I initially setup S2E, you will continue to get the notification if the internal memory gets low.

I can't remember exactly what I did but I think I moved the apps that were showing as on internal memory to the sdcard and rebooted, then move them back again (or vice-versa).

Well I can't move them back to the phone, because it tells me there isnt enough room. I suppose I could try move them to the SD card, but that kinda defeats the purpose.

    Try the following
Go back into recovery. Convert ext2 to ext3, then to ext4.
In cm7 settings, choose to install aps to internal.
In s2e, choose mount as ext4.
    Reboot.
