Cats that have been genetically modified to glow in the dark are being used to gain insights into Aids.
The scientists inserted one gene into the cats that helps them resist the feline form of Aids.
They also inserted a gene that produces a fluorescent protein called GFP, Nature Methods journal reports.
This protein - which is produced naturally in jellyfish - is commonly used in this area of research to monitor the activity of altered genes.

But they're crap at catching mice! ;)

    Definite sign of Super AIDS.

I lost a cat to feline AIDS some years ago, had to have him put down :( Now I'm gonna get one of those glow in the dark ones!

Finally, something about cats! After searching the Internet endlessly for information on felines all I've come across so many misleading websites which assault me with pictures of bearded axe-wounds and lady lips.

Surely making pussies easier to find in the dark will only increase the spread of sexually transmitted diseases?

eh, spotted a slight control problem for the florescence in felines.

they will glow cause of added gene, what happens if your being sold a cat that everyone says is one of these new glow in the dark feckers, but really its an ordinary cat under black light, cause everyone knows cats pee glows when show with a black light. ( as does other stuff, so best kept out of bedrooms ) and if i'm assuming correctly, most cats will spray or roll in scent/pee to spread/dominate area...

a petition to swap a few random street lights for black lights just to freak out the neighbours will be posted soon.

Glow in the dark animals is old-hat, if it were of the human kind then I'd be equally impressed and repulsed.

    And glowy mice, too
