Irish male singer Robert O'Connor debuts new single

    So, this is Robert O'Connor, he is an Irish singer and songwriter, though not in the traditional self-indulgent sense. He sings proper pop songs with good old fashioned lyrics and melodies.

    His single, "Older" is on the way, along with an EP titled Resistance, to be released in the new year.

    Not a bad song, but the production is crap. Could be much better. Also, that picture is ridiculous.

    Are you a producer Pat or is that just your opinion in general? It was produced by NDT Productions and mastered by Fergal Davis (Muse etc.)

    Lyrics are good. Voice has potential, but Id want to hear some other stuff before making a decision. Production is bad. Vocals are too low. Guitar is way too high, (finger slide on the strings is jarring).

    It's just a bad mix, nothing that can't be fixed. Some backing vocal mixe in would be good too.

    The picture is dumb. His nipples aren't going to sell more records. Same with the image on the youtube video. Faded grungey background flare is outdated & doesn't lend to his style.

    He need to have a stylist work on a look for him - hair, clothes, overall image (Inc song choice) etc.

    There's potential there, but to be honest, this thread is potentially damaging to his career.

    For disclosure, I'm not a producer, but I've many years experience in commercial radio & also in working with bands/musicians.

    Just my opinion. The sound is lacking something. Few more layers maybe.
