Just back from tenerife with aer lingus and i'm disgusted at what air travel has become these days. Lost count of how many trips up and down the aisle the c***s made with the trolley. Food & drink, collect rubbish, blankets and eye masks, food and drink, collect rubbish, duty free, then some other crap they were selling, more drink runs, then scratch cards, then a drawn out announcement about special offers in the magazine when i'm trying to sleep at 10.30pm, then another trolley trip for god knows what. Then another... From the moment the door closes and for the duration of the flight the aisle is blocked. Just sit down and stfu please!

Lol your thread sounds like it belongs in ranting and raving:)

I normally bring ear plugs and sit in the window seat so its not so bad.

Flew down and back to Tenerife last month with Ryanair and I feel your pain, it was NON STOP! Got off the flight kinda angry......oh also I was the last person to board the plane due to luggage issues and basically none of the cabin crew were willing to help me find a seat. There was one down the end but with lugging my case up and down the aisle (there was no room to stow it ANYWHERE) I didn't see it. Finally I kinda lost it and half yelled at one of them to help me. When I sat down in the aisle seat she walked away but I still had the bloody case, at this stage it was on my knee. I had to call after her again and it went something like "Eh am I supposed to fly with the bloody case on my knee!" Unbelievable.

You don't have to buy or even pay attention to any of these things. Fly with Ryanair and its even more frequent. Its not even much of a problem unless you are some control freak perfectionist or something.
Also, you're flying to Tenerife with Aer lingus. Not with Singapore Airlines First Class or anything.

Jesus.. If they did not offer drinks or food you would moan about lack of service..

Seriously.. Moaning about them coming along to collect your rubbish??

Put on your headphones and turn your head.. Not so hard!!

been to the canaries a few times with ryanair and each time for about €60-70 return, i will take that and a few scatch card announcements over the cost of air-travel 20 years ago any day of the week

the sales of these items subsidises the cost of your seat on the plane. Without the revenue from these trollies your ticket would cost more.

Just ignore them ... works for me

    .

Cabin crew are not there to find you a seat nor find you a place for your bag. They are quite busy during boarding with lots of duties to attend to - why didn't you kindly ask, instead of just shouting your head off at one of them. Also, if the bag fits the correct dimensions, it fits under the seat. That's where the sizing comes from, the space under the seat in front.

Back on topic - Like has been already said, if there was no service or rubbish collections, I'm sure you'd be the first to complain.

In your opinion, but when the plane is actually moving and I am still not seated then they are obliged to help me. And yes it is part of their job to help people to their seats and ensure luggage is stowed away. Fact.

Flew down and back to Tenerife last month with Ryanair and I feel your pain, it was NON STOP! ...........
    BUT
the op is whinging about a completely different airline - Aer Lingus.

Ryanair are non stop selling stuff.

    But aer lingus?
I find them grand in comparison.
They do a round with the trolly same as every airline including full price services like SAS or Lufthansa.
They do a round with the perfumes etc (also done on every other airline).
    And thats it.
No constant pestering as the OP complains about

I fly a lot with AL and I've never once heard of scratch cards - that's a Ryanair thing.

Are these flights only 5 or 6 hours? Maybe throw on some headphones, sit back and relax or read a book. If they didn't offer anything people would also be complaining

I fly Ryanair every week and with my head addled from a busy day at work, it is not always easy to just ignore the constant noise of them selling their wares. On one recent flight I met a friend and even though we were sitting side by side, we could not hold a conversation because the tanoy was turned up so loud.

I bought Bose Noise Cancelling headphones about 6 months ago... Pricey but for me they are worth every cent! There are cheaper out there that seem to work just as well.

I used to have to pay £264 stg for flights with Aer Lingus Dublin to East Midlands before Ryanair entered the market !

They can sell aything they want as far as I am concerned. If you don't like it a good set of headphones (As someone mentioned ) should do the trick !
