    Guys.

Has anyone claimed tax back from working in the uk like you can do here at the turn of the new tax year? Is it different for uk workers?

    Cheers.

You were working in the UK or are now?

The only tax back you can get back is if you have overpaid tax, as a PAYE worker over there that' unlikely unless you started working with the incorrect allowances etc.

If you started during a tax year you are entitled to the full tax free allowance for that year.
Same would apply if you leave the UK during a tax year.

If you think you've overpaid for this tax year or the last tax year you need to write to HMRC (you'll find your tax office from your employer's payroll department - it's often not the one of the town you live in) explaining why you think you've overpaid including any relevant paperwork and they'll re-assess it for you. They're not as efficient as the Revenue Commissioners so it does take them a few weeks to reply.

If you give up work in the middle of a tax year (for example to go to college) you need to fill out Form P50 and submit it with the necessary paperwork. They'll do the rest.

If you leave the UK in the middle of a tax year and may have overpaid you need to submit Form P85 along with your P45 for an assessment and refund if applicable.

Edit: The UK tax year runs April to April and not January to January like the Irish one.

You probably should have paid little or no tax for February and March.
Did you work in Ireland in Jan/Feb?
Your p60/wage slips will tell you that.
The tax year starts at the begining of April, so unless you have an incorrect tax free allowance, there will be no tax back due from April onwards.
