    One of the more reliable actors of the post war period died over the weekend. Never a quite a star but would never let his director down either. You mainly knew him as Uncle Ben in Spiderman.

    Full obit here interesting to read about his whistle-blowing that made him a few enemies in the wrong places.

    I saw him in his Oscar-winning role in Charly just a few months ago. It was a great performance that could easily have slipped into melodrama and mugging but he managed to keep it plausible.

    And he brought a real sense of dignity to the role of Uncle Ben in Spider-man.

    RIP. Found out on IMDB that JFK personally chose Cliff Robertston to play him in his WW2 biography "PT 109". What an honour if you ask me.:)

    Wow thats crazy fairplay to him,never knew of him in any other movies bar Spiderman.
