    Hi, I need help with a problem. I have a pump pumping rainwater into the toilets from a tank. Its setup as follows:

    pump(submersible) ---> non return valve--->square D pressure switch--->pressure vessel--->toilets.
    I cant get the switch to come in and out properly. I have tried loads of various settings on the pressure switch.
    I suspect the pump isnt strong enough to activate the pressure switch. Its an lidl pump

    Cheers

    I'll try to help, but need more info - model of pump and pressure switch, plus any data from the name plates on both. Maybe a picture or two of both if possible including the electrical connections at the pressure switch?

    Are you getting water to the toilet cisterns when the pump runs?

    Does the pump run continuously or not at all when the pressure switch is connected?

    Thanks for the help. The submersible pump is a "florabest", lidl's finest. Its rated at1100W, 20000ltr/hr. The pressure switch is a "square D". Its wired correctly because I can force the plate in the pressure switch and then it works.
    Presently I have it shutting off automatically, but when the toilets are flushed it wont recognise the drop in pressure in the pipe and it doesnt switch on.

    I am wondering would I be better to get a cheap shower booster pump and raise the tank, as most are negative head pumps, and use it instead. I would rather use the lidl pump as its a dirty water pump, and although I have a filter on the incoming pipe, a certain amount of sediment will always pass through.

    Cheers

    Sounds like the pressure switch is faulty. The pump seems oversized for the duty, a toilet cistern will probably only draw 5 l/min or 300 l/hr and your pump is capable of 20,000 l/hr. This would make it quite difficult to set up pressure control, as the discharge pressure from the pump when filling a cistern will be close to it's dead headed pressure as the flow is so low. Even if you get the switch to work, you will be wasting a lot of energy running that pump.

    Is there a particular pump you would recommend?

    OK a standard square d pressure switch cuts in at 20psi and out at 40 psi, do you have a pressure gauge in the system to see what pressure the pump is making? Also what air pressure is in the vessel, it needs to be 2 psi below cut in pressure.

    Sorry for the delay in replying. The pressure is pumping at .9bar and even when the toilet is full it wont go above this. It does drop to 0 when the toilet is flushed.

    I have this Florabest water pump and recently (out of guarantee) , the motor does not seem to start just a buzzing noise when turned on . Capacitor was tested and that was fine, motor is sealed unit.

    Any Ideas?
