    The joke required verbal communication to work.

    apparently this is seen as humorous because when delivered in verbal form "fishsticks" sounds similar to "fish dicks".

    Unfortunately boards.ie is a non-verbal form of communication and as a result of this the joke no longer works because simply typing the words "fishsticks" immediately differentiates that phrase from a phrase which humorously misrepresents itself as having a similarity to fish genitalia. This renders the joke terminally unimpressive.

    I think it safe to say that we all hope you remember the lesson you learned today before you pursue any future attempts at thread starting.
