Maths in Engineering Jobs

Hello folks, I'm heading into 3rd yr of an electrical related science degree but I've found the maths so far is really lacking. I did the leaving 20 odd years ago and the maths we cover in college still hasn't caught up with that. We share some maths classes with engineering students (and I'm considering transferring to an enginering course) so I'm wondering will third yr mean a huge jump forward in maths content? Is maths ability important in day to day mech eng or control eng jobs?

I did honours applied maths for the leaving cert 21 years ago and it carried me through college. As an engineer I let the computer do the maths for me, its faster than me! You'll use maths if you go into design but you only use a section of what you learn in college and college is lightweight compared to industry.

3rd year eng maths shouldn't be a major step up from 2nd eng, but it might be a lot tougher than that on a science course.
