how to reset phone to factory default

im selling my phone so need to delete the account that is synced with the phone, went into accounts and sync and wont let me delete says i need to do a factory rest in privacy setting, which i have done but it still has my account email address and phone contacts:confused:

What's the make and model of your phone ?

It's hard to know how to do a reset without knowing what phone you're talking about.
