    hey,
I am wondering if anyone has any plans or ideas in how i can run:

a mile and a half in under 9 minutes,
Under 8 if i wanted to be top.

I think im doing it in around 14,maybe.

i have about 6 weeks before my run.

    Am i wasting my time??
is it too short a time??

    Wat ye think??

    Sean

I presume this is a military fitness evaluation? ( I think usually them guys are the only ones who seem to judge by a mile and a half?)

If so and you are looking to make the grade with no real interest in long term development of running I would suggest the following as a weekly plan:

20 - 30 min jogging x 2 (as slow as needs be to complete the time frame)

5 min jog, 6 x 1 min hardrunning/1 min light jog recovery, 5 min jog

Once a week also throw in a circuit session this is a great way to boost fitness fast

Every second week swap one of the 20 min jogs with a 1 Mile time Trial. Realistically 9 min for 2400m roughly is a very lofty goal and even many here who have trained for years would find that tough but hopefully the program above will give you the best shot at hitting your target
