Just wondering if anyone knows what is the rate of fire with a 8.4V and a 9.6V battery in a A.P.S. ASR103 as I do not own a chronograph.

    Thanks.

It's about 20% more with a 9.6 than an 8.4 in any aeg.

I remember seeing somewhere that you can measure the rof by recording the gun shooting and analysing the sound after.
You count the spikes (In 1 second or more) in sound and multiply to get to rounds per minute.

Something like that, never tried it myself.

Well I've just charged up my 8.4v battery and it almost sounds like a 9.6V.

I've never heard of that now.

    Read first part... lets see:

    --- PC (Yes :D ).
    --- Microphone (Yes... hopefully...).
--- Sound Editing software (No  ).

Any good free sound editing software, or would Windows Movie Maker do?

    It lists this: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
On that website and it's free, but i've only ever used sony vegas for editing music.

Well who doesn't love SONY!

I also read the article a bit more and I found that, thanks for the help any ways, so I might try to download that one of the days if I can.

    Thanks again.

The higher volt battery makes the motor turn faster and piston drive quicker. More voltage equals higher rof. If your 8.4 sounds like a 9.6 then there is something wrong with your 9.6.

I wouldn't get excited about super rate of fire in the APS. Anything over a 9.6, and you're going to end up smashing the blowback parts to bits. Want high rof? get non blowback, wnat blowback? dont expect a white laser beam of bbs.

also try bringing it to your nearest retailer, most chono's have BB's/s on it

Sorry, just realised that I charged my 8.4V battery and then fired it last night.

Just tried it a few minutes ago, and it was like a 8.4V again.

As for the rate of fire in a A.P.S. ASR103, everyone know it won't be fast, but it would be standard like other brands except Classis Army, G&P, Tokyo Marui e.g.

Believe me, I would never go over a 9.6V battery in my or my friend's airsoft rifles, and I would never chance a Li-Po battery either.

If your aeg can take a lipo, or a larger battery, it works great, you just need the right setup. Mine uses 10.8s and never had a problem, could do lipos too, but just haven't gotten charger and batteries yet.

It did actually have one teensy little fault when it was put together slightly wrong and it ripped all the teeth out of the gearbox, piston shaft, motor and locked up the gearbox.

Apart from that it was fine.

When you mean it was put together slightly wrong, did you get a faulty AEG or field stripped it yourself?

It was a custom one. It was built to take lipos and higher voltage batteries too, but when the motor, which was in the grip was inserted it was a little loose.

It was under warranty and the supplier fixed it straight away with their excellent workshop skills.

    Lefty was there

Ah, I had a problem like that myself. The motor was either too high up or too low and it wasn't firing but the motor was working. It was fixed soon enough.
