    Hey,
Just after buying a new laptop, and just wondering if the digitially enlightened out there have any recommendations on "must have" software that I might download. Basically, suggestions for programes that you think would enhance the laptop. Examples might include anti-malware programmes etc.

    Thanks.

Lifehacker.com usually do "best of" install packs.

    See here.

I'd recommend using Microsoft Security Essentials (remove any other anti-virus software you have installed).

Thanks for that chingrin. I have a trial version of Norton. Would I have to get rid of that to use MSE?

Personally, yeah. I have a distinct hatred of all things norton! ^_^

I just found mse the most non-intrusive yet powerful anti-virus out there. I could look but I'm sure there's a poll in computers about best anti-virus and mse beats them all.
