Anti Glare Lenses

I just bought a pair of glasses in Vision Express.
I was told the price altogether(frames, eye test and lenses) and was shocked by how expensive it was, because I knew the price of the frames was cheap enough.
When I asked why the price was so expensive, the assistant said because I am getting anti-glare lenses instead of normal lenses. She said that since I have always had anti glare lenses in my glasses, if I switched to normal lenses I might experience glares from the computer screen and get headaches or migraines.
So I decided to not risk the potential headaches and stick with the anti glare lenses.
But is what they say really true? Does anyone here know anything about anti glare lenses, or is it just another pointless add-on.

    Thanks

If you have previously worn anti glare lenses then you would miss them when using a computer or watching TV or night driving. They make things a bit clearer and improve contrast somewhat. They also look better and allow people to see your eyes and not a big reflection instead.

However..I am not aware of any case where not having the anti-glare has caused headaches or migraine.

I wear glasses and wouldn't be without my anti-glare lenses for all of the reasons mentioned above.

As an aside: Not all anti-glare lenses are created equal. There are cheap anti-glare lenses and there are expensive anti-glare lenses which have different properties and benefits. It's good to know what exactly you are paying for when you get your quote.
