Whats the deal with carrying modules and repeating?

I'm in DT228 computer science 2nd year and I am unsure about the consequences of what happens if I pass or fail.

Obviously 4 passes(out of 4) means entry into 3rd year , but what would happen say if i passed 2 and failed 2 , or passed 3 and failed 1, would I be made to repeat just 1 or 2 subjects, or can I move onto the next year and take whatever subject or 2 with me? I am quite confused by this.

DIT are hardly the clearest about the rules either.

It differs by course so best ask your tutor. How many credits were the subjects worth? Most courses allow you to carry either 5 or 10 credits worth of subject with you. A friend of mine had to repeat just 2 subjects last year.

I did really surprisingly well and passed all 4 so no worries about me carrying modules

thanks anyway! still might be helpful for someone else though to find out.
