Any thoughts of what might come up in FR? Cash flow due up and have not been examined in a while? Do not think they will examine disposal of subsidiary. As for the other parts of the paper, any ideas?

I'm thinking disposal of sub will appear somewhere. The fact that the email was sent a week before the Summer sitting and then wasn't examined surely means it's a hot favouite for October.

Not too sure whether we'll see cashflows. Wouldn't expect it as a question one anyway. Possibly will appear somewhere else in the paper.

How are people getting on with study? I must sit SFMA also. I haven't much done in fairness, too busy at work and must get plenty overtime done in the coming weeks to ensure I get at least a weeks study leave.Just under 4 weeks until FR so still time but this busy period doesn't help matters!!

I am repeating SFMA and FR.

Just thinking in terms of FR what about part disposal of subsidiary? or disposal of foreign subsidiary?

SFMA? My thoughts Transfer price, exchange/interest risk, valuations?

    any more ideas?

I am repeating SFMA. Just wondering if anybody went to chartered grind school tutorials I couldn't go as had family wedding that weekend. Did you get any tips?

Topics I think will come up,

Q on Interest rate risk either full Q in section B or 10 marker in the case study as foreign exchange came up in Summer and its not usual were both foreign ex and interest rate risk are asked on the same paper. Really hard to know what could be asked here maybe a swap Q.

I think Variances will come up in section two as transfer pricing and divisionalisation came up in the last two papers and where highly tipped at the time. Its minimising what can be asked from section 4 on syllabus.

I think a question from section 4.1 framework for performance measurement could come up. Not seen a question from here.

Possibility of following from section 2 coming up as they have not been covered recently

    Valuing a company
    Stock Market
    Investment decision Q

    Any thoughts?

Well variances came up in the Case study in summer paper. very doubt that it will come up again.

Oh I am going crazy in guessing what it might come up. I'll better use this time and study.

I'm wrecked from it myself. FR is torture. Just trying to work through the variety of adjustments that might come up at the moment. I wouldn't worry too much about it balancing, very few marks going for that. Remember, you need 50%, anything above that is a bonus. As for SFMA???!!! Such a wide range of topics and possibilities. What is everyone studying for this? I'm puttting in alot of hours over the past week, still feel really under prepared. Just hoping it will come together next week.

Oh same as, stuff I could do with my eyes closed previous is catching me out. Any predictions as to what we think may come up??

Ya it was tough alright..Don't know how I did really. I know I messed up parts but that's to be expected. Including an 18 month accounting period in question one was a a nasty little surprise!Thought the paper was long aswell, as usual I suppose!! Got FR to come aswell. Not looking forward to that.

Did anyone else notice that the rental income was for 15 months and not the full 18 months?

My answer was a mess cos I made so many mistakes and had to redo the CT comp!

I didnt like all that outline the implications for SD,CAT and CGT questions! It was annoying having to explain all that ****!

Ya the rental income was weird alright..I made a few mistakes and noticed after but didn't bother attempting to change them because I knew time would catch up and I wouldn't finish it. I wasn't impressed with Q.4 either. I decided to mix a bit of theory with calculations, to cut down on writing waffle. I know it said calculations weren't necessary but the calculations got the point across just the same I hope anyway!!!

I didnt understand that. The calculations were an important part of the question. It kinda put me off

I did Auditing today. It was ok i guess.............. but I thought the same in the summer!

I thought auditing today was ok parts of it were just theory which could be transcribed straight from the notes. Question 2 was a nice return back to the short questions. Hopefully it was ok but as the previous post I was fairly sure the summer one was ok as well.

You just never know with these exams. They can go either way.

Many people sitting SFMA and FR in the next couple of days? Any thoughts?

Hoping for cash flow question and disposal of a sub in the consol question. There's usually a interpretation of accounts paper in the repeat paper as well.

What do yours think about today's SFMA? Thought it was ok paper. Haven't said that I completely failed it. So dissapointed with myself. half way through my mind just went blank. lost out on easy marks like fin and non fin analysis.

Same here tbh!Made an absolute balls of it plus I made the mistake of choosing the wrong question in part B and half way through it I realised that I was struggling but it was too late to go back ugh

Were we meant to waffle on fin and no fin analysis of the co by using the FS statement given and Balance scorecard?

What did everyone think of FR paper? I had a feeling cash flows would appear but still did very badly in exam. More than likely failed. Not looking forward to studying it all over again
