Price of morning-after pill in Boots

I had sex with a girl last night and the condom broke inside her. It took me a good while to notice but I noticed before I came and obviously I stopped. l still thought it would be a good idea to ask her if she would mind using the morning-after pill and that I would pay for it, she agreed.

I met up with her for a tea today and I asked her how much it cost her, she said it was €45 from Boots, so I gave her the €45, and she reluctantly took it.

I knew that it is available over-the-counter now so I was a little surprised that it was so expensive and when I got home I googled it. From reading a couple of articles It seems that Boots are now charging €10 and and the old price was €45, see here: http://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/ruling-cuts-cost-of-morning-after-pill-to-999-145480.html . I might have got this all wrong but I'm a bit panicked now that she was just remembering the old price and wondering if she even bought the pill at all.

It's perfectly likely that they also still do the full consultation service for €45 and I'm just being paranoid. Boots are closed now so I can't ring them. Could someone please put my mind at rest.

Hey, nope, its €45 in Boots. I got it there myself a few weeks ago.

It is actually available for €10-€15 in other pharmacies, but when I got it, I wasn't actually aware that it was available elsewhere for cheaper, and just went straight to Boots. Its very possible its the same with this girl (I think it used to only be available in Boots).

But yes, its defo still €45 in Boots, so you can chill :)

Thanks, that's a load off my mind! Thought I was being paranoid alright, she didn't seem like the crazy type.

FYP; the MAP is, at best, 92%-ish effective. There is still a chance she will become, or already is, pregnant.

He's allowed to question it, especially given all the recent changes and confusion re the morning after pill. No need to jump down his throat.

OP, yes I got it a few months back and it's €45. That includes consultation with the chemist and the pill itself.

Does the girl have to go in to get it or can the fella get it for her?

well they will ask an array of questions about your general health, history etc so unless they brief the guy first, I doubt it.

You'll be turned away, they need to ask some medical questions before they issue it and if they have any doubts are meant to refer to a GP.
